Our mission is to create opportunities
to inspire and empower young people to rise together.
To achieve this mission we are focused on
Education, Partnership, and Financial Support.
JAMII MOJA is a Swahili phrase that means
“One World. One Family”.
EDUCATION is the key to ending the cycle of poverty, as we know. Our focus is 9,000 miles away in Kenya, Africa, helping a Maasai community create a better future for their children. Proudly, we have provided education for over 40 children, starting from preschool through high school. (Our first student graduated high school in 2019.)
Founded in 2011, we are a very small Portland based non-profit, with all donations going directly to the community we serve.
Your support helps provide the opportunity for a child to obtain the coveted education, which leads to the skills to be able to contribute financially to family and community.
Your donation covers more than education. Here are some examples of what your donation can provide:
$800 covers tuition and boarding
$500 covers tuition
$200 covers meals for the year
$100 covers school uniform
$50 covers transportation
$25 covers school supplies
THE FUTURE of Jamii Moja holds many opportunities to make a difference as these students complete their education. If they do not go onto college, they must learn a marketable skill. This is where our future focus will be in the coming years.
JAMII MOJA
One World. One Family
This definition means more now than ever.
When our Maasai community needed financial support for supplies during the pandemic, we answered the call.
During the Covid pandemic, Jamii Moja continued to support our communities
by sending funds for food, which was distributed by our partners.
As the pandemic continued and schools closed, the request for cell phones was made.
We were able to fund cell phones for those in need so they could continue learning virtually. See photos below.
